platane collection

(EN) Commissioned by MONO Editions and designed by Corpus Studio, Platane is a collectible furniture and lighting collection built on a single modular principle: wooden slabs of a standard thickness, seemingly weightless and malleable, are assembled in tension and compression or cantilevered into space, appearing to defy gravity while drawing out the character of the wood itself.

The collection continues Corpus Studio's ongoing research into structure and matter, exploring how a form holds together, how it is assembled and how the material behaves, all drawn with a line that is both rigorous and poetic.

The simple lines of the desk, chair, lounge chair, side table, coffee table and lamps carry the memory of historic architecture and decorative arts while remaining resolutely contemporary. Each piece is made in plane tree, a species deeply rooted in French culture and landscape that lines the avenues of Paris and the alleys of Provence, and each carries a lively, flecked grain that makes it unique.
